About Alison

Alison began working in the Early Years sector in 1997 when she first started her associates degree in Early Childhood Studies at Guildford College of Further and Higher Education. She graduated with merits and distinctions, earning a place at the University of Worcester, UK. In 2001 she achieved a BA (with Honors) in Early Childhood Studies.

Since then her career has taken many wonderful twists and turns. Having worked at the Henry Tyndale School with Autistic children, she took a place in Nagoya, Japan at an International  Early Years Program. As the youngest foreign employee, Alison earned two promotions in 6 months, earning the title of Programme Coordinator and Senior Nursery Nurse (preschool teacher).

She finally left Japan in 2004 (to be married) and returned to the Henry Tyndale School where she stayed until the birth of her first born. In 2006, she immigrated to Texas to be with her husband (an elementary teacher and lacrosse coach). Here she used her skills and experience to nanny for two little boys. Then in 2008 she made the decision to be a stay-at-home-mom, and opened her home to other children (to help support her husbands income).

In October 2008, Alison gave birth to her second daughter, utilizing the services of a Natural Birth Center. She has worked and nursed both her children until they weaned themselves at 15 months. Alison is an advocate for making Midwives and natural birth options available in hospitals, for those women that wish to choose this path.

She will be applying to University in 2010 in the hopes of completing a MSc in Social Work for Children and Young Adults.

She offers her thoughts and ideas through blogging at Itsy Bitsy Learning and Itsy Bitsy Printables, in the hopes of inspiring others.
